A Beautiful Day, From the 25 Days of Minis Portfolio, 2022, Acrylic on panel, 8 x 8 inches, Framed-9.5 x 9.5 inches

​Some artist friends and I once stayed a few days at our friend's beach house on Fripp Island, Georgia. The last morning I awoke wide awake around 6 AM so thought I would walk over to the beach.  I had to cross a bridge over the marshes that were just before the sandy beach. 

As I arrived at the bridge the signs said, "Don't feed the alligators." I suddenly started having vivid examples from stories my friend had told the night before. There was the one about the golfer whose ball went into the water on the course.  When he reached down to get the ball an alligator bit his hand off.  OMG! Then there was a more recent story about a mom barely rescuing her child from an alligator on the beach.  Then I started thinking of every alligator story I had ever heard on the news or elsewhere.  LOL 

I quickly went back to the house and got in my car and drove home.  My friend wasn't up yet and I had nothing to do while waiting for her to wake up.  I'm not good at sitting around with nothing to do so I left her a note and drove home.

Yep.  This painting reminded me of that story due to the marshlike feel it has.
